Participatory design for the elderly

What is it about?

The purpose of this research is to integrate PD into product design courses and conduct a tableware design project for the elderly in groups. The goal of this research is the teaching method of PD, which can be widely used in related design courses to replace the traditional user-centered design method. PD can train students to understand how to design together with users. In the process of participating in design, students should learn how to guide users in design, participate in communication and discussions with users, and explore user needs through rapid prototyping model testing and corrections.

Why is it important?

This study uses PD in product design to examine the impact on, and benefit from, product design. PD breaks through user-centered design methods in the past, focusing on user-oriented design, deep participation in the entire product design process, obtaining users' real ideas and needs, and producing solutions that meet users' needs.
