What is it about?

We did a review of scientific literature with the aim of exploring the main topics regarding the management of the occupational exposure to formaldehyde in anatomy pathology departments.

Why is it important?

Formaldehyde is classified by IARC as known human carcinogen (group 1). Daily anatomy workers face the concern of occupational exposure to formaldehyde as it is a frequent choice of tissue fixative. Safety programs are needed in order to protect anatomy workers from frormaldehyde.
