What is it about?

Regional indicators from official statistics are increasingly required for Monitoring policies on sustainability or Progress measurement at national, European or United Nations Level such as the Sustainable Development Goals or the Development Strategy 2030. Integration of statistical and geospatial data for geografic Information Systems is a currently a big challenge. What matters is Quality, interoperability and sustainability.

Why is it important?

Progress measurement, Quality of life or well-being refer to living conditions individually and for the Society as a whole. It is not all about the economic Situation but also its Drivers, in particular education and vocational Training. The natural Environment matters as well and influences human's health living currently or in the future. Inclusion and Integration are also dimensions of Quality of life. And, good governance enabling citizens to take part in political decision making, collaboration and cooperation in Terms of open government and open data is also crucial.The complexitiy of our living conditions in a globalized world requires reliable statistical data even from new data sources such as satellite Images or mobile phones.
