Size effects on creep strength of metallic specimens

What is it about?

This paper deals with the size effects on the creep rupture of metallic specimens. A new approach, based on fractal geometry concepts, has been proposed to interpret the decrease in the creep strength of metallic specimens, due to an increase in the specimen size.

Why is it important?

The proposed approach provides an application of the fractal geometry concepts, widely used in the framework of Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics (LEFM), to the case of Time-dependent Fracture Mechanics (TDFM).
