The effect of knee osteoarthritis on ankle proprioception and torque

What is it about?

The previous studies concentrated on kinetic and kinematic changes associated with osteoarthitis (OA) and measured proprioception locally on the knee joint. There is a gap in the literature regarding the influence of knee OA on proprioception of other joints such as the ankle joint. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the effect of knee OA on proprioception and concentric peak torque of dorsiflexor and plantarflexor muscles.

Why is it important?

The findings of this study may aid designing rehabilitation programmes for patients with knee OA
