What is it about?

We demonstrate for the first time, the serum glucose- and cholesterol-lowering effects of dietary fibre of lemongrass in vitro and in an animal model.

Why is it important?

This provides evidence of the antihyperglycemic and cholesterol-lowering potential of a common underutilized herb, lemongrass, as a cheap and abundant functional food in helping prevent the risk for diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
