Seeking Biomarkers and Therapies for Parkinson’s Disease and Multiple System Atrophy

What is it about?

Human studies of DNA and rRNA sequences are related to Parkinson's disease (PD) and Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). These human findings were compared to results in PD and MSA mouse models. We found that there were similarities between humans and mice and that our drugs improved bacterial pools in some of the aging mice.

Why is it important?

These findings are important because they may identify markers for PD and MSA diagnosis and show that our novel drugs improve mouse bacterial pools in the gut.
