People with muscular dystrophy showed a perseverance through the COVID-19 pandemic

What is it about?

We asked adults with muscular dystrophy questions about how the COVID-19 pandemic may have impacted various aspects of their lives. We asked questions about COVID-19 infection, exercise, pain, mental health, medical care, and stress.

Why is it important?

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Muscular Dystrophy Association has recommended that people with muscular dystrophy may be at higher risk for complications due to COVID-19 infection. They advised people with muscular dystrophy to follow CDC guidelines to reduce the chances of infection, such as avoiding areas with large crowds and masking. As more was learned about COVID-19 and vaccinations became more widely available, we felt it was necessary to explore the risks within the muscular dystrophy population, and understand the impacts the COVID-19 pandemic and its associated guidelines were having on it.
