designing of shaped-beam for Malaysian by using parabolic reflector mounted on a satellite.

What is it about?

Beam shaping can be done by using 2 methods; reflector shaping or multiple feed. In this paper, multi feed technique is proposed. However, due to small size of Malaysia region, to get precise beam, if multiple horns are used, those horns will overlap. Thus, microstrip patch antennas are proposed as the feed elements, and arranged in a non-symmetrical way.

Why is it important?

This study provides accurate correlation between feed position and beam direction (at what position on the world map does the antenna radiate at). Thus, satellite antenna designing becomes more accurate, systematic and less iterations are required.
