Unraveling the connection between Alzheimer's Disease and COVID-19

What is it about?

COVID-19 patients have shown cognitive impairment, raising concerns about their increased risk of developing Alzheimer's disease. However, the reasons behind this heightened risk have remained unclear. Our study aimed to unravel this mystery by investigating whether COVID-19 patients undergo specific brain changes that could trigger Alzheimer's disease.

Why is it important?

This research holds immense importance as it addresses a critical health concern. Understanding the mechanisms linking COVID-19 to AD is essential for developing targeted interventions. By identifying potential molecular changes in the brain that might lead to AD, we identified previously unknown potential targets that can be used for pharmaceutical interventions and may pave the new treatment strategies.
