What is it about?

This review article summarizes recent findings regarding ways in which a recently developed, fast and safe examination (OCT angiography) can potentially help diagnose Alzheimer’s disease early on and differentiate it from other common forms of dementia.

Why is it important?

An earlier and more accurate diagnosis of dementia means greater chances of dealing with it more effectively. This eye examination is also non-invasive, which means more comfort and less risk for the patient, in contrast to other common neurological examinations currently needed to make a specific diagnosis.
