Dementia diagnosis by a simple blood test

What is it about?

This study aimed to measure a specific DNA marker in blood, and to determine whether this could predict individuals who would go on to develop dementia, compared to those who remained without dementia.

Why is it important?

Accurate prediction of individuals who are likely to develop dementia is important for a number of reasons. It can identify individuals who would most benefit from preventative interventions, and who could be recruited to clinical trials to test new drugs which are being developed, to slow the progression of the disease.
