Dilated perivasular spaces in the centrum semiovale in healthy people

What is it about?

T2-MRI showed dilated perivascular spaces in early middle-aged healthy people. The incidence of perivascular spaces increased associated with increasing age. The logistic regression analysis revealed that dilated perivascular spaces on MRI were closely associated with age, hypertension, and the estimated glomerular filtration ratio.

Why is it important?

Dilated perivascular spaces are regarded as a MRI marker of small vessel disease and amyloid angiopathy. This study revealed that development of dilated perivascular spaces onMI started in the middle-aged healthy people.
