E-government and digital transformation in South Africa

What is it about?

The study explores power dynamics and the role of politics in the institutionalisation of reforms and deinstitutionalisation of institutionalised practices that constrain transformation in institutions.

Why is it important?

Digital transformation of the public sector is more than the implementation of technology, it impacts the regulative, normative, and cultural cognitive elements in institutions. The regulative pillar addresses policy and legislation issues such as privacy in the adoption and use of technology. The cultural-cognitive pillar supports the creation of a culture (value systems and beliefs) that support digital transformation. The normative pillar is responsible for the establishment of norms and standards that support digital transformation.
