What is it about?

During the past four decades, privatization of state owned enterprises (SOEs) has become an essential phenomenon in both developed and developing countries. The purpose of this study is to examine the extent to which the benefits of privatisation have been achieved in emerging economies

Why is it important?

Previous research in this area revealed that privatisation may vary with the level of economic development. Therefore, developed countries' privatisation paradigm does not appropriately reflect the problems of developing countries and thus cannot be applied to developing countries. Thus, these facts make research into the privatisation experience in Egypt the more interesting to evaluate.
