Walking trials on FRP composite footbridge

What is it about?

This paper presents the results from walking trials on a specially designed, flexible FRP composite laboratory footbridge. Human structure interaction is investigated and relationships between the pedestrian loads and the bridge vibrations are proposed.

Why is it important?

This work helps to understand the nature of the relationship between flexible structures and the loading applied on these structures by crossing pedestrians. This work has great value in the area of footbridge, floor and stadium design.
