The effectiveness of high-intensity laser and ultrasound therapies in adhesive capsulitis.
What is it about?
Adhesive capsulitis (AC) is a common musculoskeletal disease characterized with shoulder pain, limitation of range of motion (ROM) and disability. Although many of treatment methods are used in the treatment of AC, there is no deļ¬nite consensus on the standard treatment. Researchers evaluated the effectiveness of ultrasound (US) and high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) treatments on pain, joint range of motion, quality of life and functions in patients with AC. According to results, US therapy and HILT were effective on the improvement of pain, ROM and functional conditions of patients in the treatment of AC.
Why is it important?
The treatment of AC remains controversial because the level of evidence for various treatment methods is limited. According to our results, US therapy and HILT treatments were effective in relieving pain and improving ROM and functional conditions of patients in the treatment of AC and both therapy modalities had similar effects. Researchers consider that US therapy and HILT treatments will be helpful in presenting variability and alternatives to physical therapy practices.
