Association of Body Mass Index with Cognition and AD Biomarkers

What is it about?

This study examined the relationship between body mass index and cognitive function, as well as Alzheimer's disease (AD) biomarkers, in the elderly with different cognitive status. Additionally, the influence of APOE ε4 status and Aβ status on this association was also investigated. This study also provided some information regarding AD screening.

Why is it important?

AD is the leading cause of dementia, and BMI is a well-known modifiable factor for AD. The relationship between the two is not yet fully understood. Further investigating their association can help in implementing appropriate disease prevention strategies and also contribute to a deeper understanding of the mechanisms underlying AD.
