Bisexuality, Batman and the Gothic Mode

What is it about?

TV shows like FOX's Gotham offer interesting perspectives on classic Gothic themes. Issues like bisexuality are also explored through a few characters in the series namely Barbara Kean. This paper talks about both through some feminist ideas and argues that even if the series is "new" or current, like Gotham, some traditional Gothic themes remain.

Why is it important?

This research adds to a growing conversation on modern Gothic television programs and the presentation of the characters in those worlds. The Gothic "rules" from previous times are still present.
