Media representations of rape culture in Northern Ireland

What is it about?

The Ulster Rugby Rape Trial triggered a nation-wide conversation in Northern Ireland surrounding rape culture. This paper examines how the media represented views towards rape culture in relation to this case and how these views were responded to on social media.

Why is it important?

This work found that Northern Irish society is becoming increasingly intolerant of the perpetuation of rape culture, with such attitudes of resistance being a dominant representation within both the media and social media.
