What is it about?

This article about the making of a missing Doctor Who episode, 'Mission to the Unknown', which was undertaken at the University of Central Lancashire. First I assess the effects of nostalgia and how difficult it is to be authentic when remaking something from 1965, and then I discuss the actual process of making the episode, for which I was present. Finally I assess the finished product against the initial criteria.

Why is it important?

This is a valuable contribution to scholarship on the effects of nostalgia and the meaning of a term like authenticity. The actual episode itself is a first-of-its-kind experiment which may herald further experiments.
