What is it about?

This study complements prior studies where the policy was only examined in the short term and with limited information regarding differential policy effects among different racial or ethnic groups. We found that Medicaid expansion was associated with reduced average poor mental health days among the general population; however, the associations were different for various racial/ethnic groups. The improvements in mental health observed at the beginning of the policy implementation may not hold for some races/ethnicity over time, which required further study to examine potential reasons.
