Improving crisis servics

What is it about?

Federal, state, and local mental health authorities are increasingly investing in the crisis care continuum, including call center, mobile teams, and crisis facilities. This article reviews important policy considerations to advance these services, such as increased federal appropriations to states, including via an additional Mental Health Block Grant set aside, are urgently needed. Additional components are needed, including the implementation of a national three-digit crisis hotline and additional research and evaluation of crisis services.
