What is it about?

Neurobehavioral dysregulation (NBD) is the term used to describe the neuropsychiatric symptoms reported by individuals with a history of repetitive head impact (RHI) exposure, including contact sport athletes. The objective of this study is to examine NBD through a series of expert-informed statistical analyses of several standardized self-report questionnaires completed by 178 former college and professional American football players and 60 male controls. Results of these analyses provided support for NBD including four major behaviors and symptoms: explosivity, emotional dyscontrol, impulsivity, and affective lability.
