What is it about?

Principles and case examples of how to apply trauma-informed care and cultural humility to people from a diverse set of backgrounds with unique cultural, belief systems, and mental health needs

Why is it important?

The population is becoming more diverse, mental health issues are exceptionally prevalent, and trauma experiences inform whether people feel safe to seek care, and their needs during evaluation and treatment. Our mental health system needs to enhance its capacity to meet these individuals and communities with cultural humility and in trauma-informed ways. Training of providers is essential to make this happen.
