What is it about?

This study examined the adolescent mental health of children from low-income families who attended Head Start preschools that were (or were not) enriched with an evidence-based social-emotional learning (SEL) program and a coordinated interactive reading program (the Head Start REDI program). Teacher ratings collected in grade 7 (age 12-13) and grade 9 (age 14-15) revealed significant long-term intervention benefits associated with the REDI preschool enrichment in areas of adolescent conduct problems, emotional symptoms, and peer problems.
