Cage farm sediment quality and metal levels

What is it about?

Cage farm is perceived to pollute water bodies. Our work shows that, water and sediment quality may not be seriously impacted if cage culture is managed properly. The work examined organic matter in the sediment and metal levels in the water column and found them to be be reasonably low.

Why is it important?

The work was original. The cage site and the reference site values were not significantly different from each other in almost all the parameters investigated. Wild fishes were observed to consume all feed that escaped from the cage and the wind action also moved feed from the cage area.
