Crystal structure of a DNA sequence with the fluorescent marker DAPI

What is it about?

The main subject is the co-crystallization of the palindromic DNA sequence - 5'-CGTGAATTCACG-3 'with DAPI and other fluorescent markers and ligands. With the complementary palindromic DNA sequences for which are characteric regions rich in AATT bases binde many drug forms for treatment of oncology deseases and marker dyes used in fluorescence microscopy.

Why is it important?

The crystal structure of 5'-CGTGAATTCACG-3' with the fluorescence marker DAPI is solvedfor the first time. The interaction of DAPI in the AATT nucleotide region of 5'-CGTGAATTCACG-3' is based on four hydrogen bonds. There is a reduction in water molecules in the structure of 5T4W in the first hydration shell, based on the transfer, of the hydrophobic behaveour of DAPI, to the DNA polymer.
