Measuring crystal quality

What is it about?

By comparing positions within a crystal a measure of its internal order can be made. This can then be used to decide automatically on the best strategies for data collection.

Why is it important?

A measure of the internal order of protein crystals is presented. By defining how much the quality of a protein crystal varies the optimum strategy to collect data can be selected. This is important in fully automatic data collection when decisions are made on beam size and data collection methods.
