Assessment of the new Cryo electron microscope from JEOL

What is it about?

Electron microscopy is a major tool for structural biology. JEOL developed a new microscope for high resolution cryo microscopy as a competitor to FEI/Thermo Fischer. We analysed the quality of this instrument from a practical aspect of day to day use in a facility environment.

Why is it important?

This publication focuses on rather practical aspects for day to day use on the new JEOL microscope (cryoARM300). We highlight advantages and challenges of this instrument and what is important to obtain in a high-throughput setup high-resolution structures. We also supply scripts to use with SerialEM to facilitate sample screening and automated data collection.
