Local structure investigation of Co–Fe–Si–Bribbons by EXAFS

What is it about?

In this paper, local structure investigation has been performed using extended x-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) for Co-Fe-Si-B glassy ribbons.

Why is it important?

Co-based metallic glasses (MGs) have low magnetostriction and low coercivity, high initial, and maximal permeability. Being technologically important, it is essential to understand the glass formation ability (GFA) of this alloy. Co-based MGs were found to have inferior GFA compared to other glasses due to their higher critical cooling rate.
