Misfit-induced changes of lattice parameters in two-phase systems

What is it about?

This article deals with the modelling of lattice parameter changes in two-phase systems including matrix and precipitates. The source of aforementioned lattice parameter changes has been ascribed to the elastic accommodation of misfit between two phases. The type of misfit can vary depending on the volume misfit between two phases and the heat treatment process.

Why is it important?

Application of the theoretical model, presented in this paper, to the several experimental results (lattice parameter changes obtained by the experimental methods such as XRD) proves that the model is highly applicable to the various two-phase systems. For application of the theoretical model to an individual two-phase system, types of elastic misfit (volume/thermal) and diffraction (coherent/incoherent) involving in that system should be examined.
