What is it about?

On the title compound, C20H27N3O, the hydroxy group forms an intramolecular O—H⋯N hydrogen bond with the imino N atom. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 33.09 (9)°. In the crystal, molecules form centrosymmetric dimers via pairs of N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving aminopyridine fragments.

Why is it important?

Schiff base ligands derived from salicylaldehyde containing OH...N type hydrogen bonding have been studied due to the versatility of their electronic and steric properties.
