Translation in language teaching: its application in the beginner-level language classroom

What is it about?

This paper looks at the use of translation in the beginner-level language classroom. In particular, it analyses students’ performance in the translation of e-mails of refusal from Japanese to English before and after a series of five study sessions.

Why is it important?

Although there has been a re-evaluation of translation in language teaching, there is still not enough data about its application in beginner-level language classrooms.
