Dissertation abstract on the description of a sign language lexicon

What is it about?

The lexicon of sign languages differs in certain respects from those of spoken (vocal) languages. The impact of iconicity is ubiquitous. This work shows how iconicity is integrated in a lexicon model of German Sign Language (DGS). This model has been developed in the making of several dictionaries of technical terms (German - DGS).

Why is it important?

It is still the first attempt to take iconicity into account in sign language lexicography in a principled way.
