Interdialectalisms

What is it about?

Interdialectalisms are linguistic forms created with elements (features, forms, structures) already existing in previously estabished dialects. Therefore they are a consequence of dialect contact.

Why is it important?

Although the number of interdialectalisms in a regional language variety is usually low, the study of these forms is interesting to better understand the mechanisms underlying language changes, but also to understand the society and culture where those changes occur.
