Study abroad participants practice and use their second language in local religious communities.

What is it about?

This student sought out opportunities to use and improve her French while also observing meaningful religious practices from home but in local religious communities. She joined some pre-established groups but also created her own local religious community of practice.

Why is it important?

Students may improve in second language (L2) learning and use when taking part in meaningful activities where they are immersed in the L2.
