What is it about?

This paper explores how English-Chinese NMT post-editing (PE) is accepted in China from the perspectives of attitude, practice, and training, based on an integrative digital survey with role-specific popup questions for translators and clients in the market setting, and for translation teachers and students in the education setting.

Why is it important?

This study reveals the general reactions of various stakeholders – such as translation teachers, students and clients – to post editing of machine translation in specific settings including the workplace or university classroom, as well as the implications of various identity factors of these stakeholders – such as age and location – on their PE attitudes and usage.
