How do we choose our speech style for a particular addressee?

What is it about?

In this book, I investigate the mechanisms and processes underlying addressee orientation, i.e. the way we adjust our speech to a particular recipient. Why is it important?

Recipient design is one of the core principles of human interaction, and understanding how we adjust to others tells us a lot about human nature.
