Use of narratives to promote antifeminism and radical masculinity.

What is it about?

Over the past decade, radical masculinity groups have rapidly gained followers in different social media outlets and discussion websites. These groups, often called the manosphere, utilize narratives and literature in highly strategical ways. This article analyzes these strategies and maps out how antifeminism is negotiated with other men by re-reading literature, novels such as Vladimir Nabokov’s Lolita, from the point of view of radical masculinity.

Why is it important?

The manosphere is influential, yet almost invisible to the wider public. The use of narratives as tools for manipulation has not been thoroughly examined before. The strategies described in the article are being adopted by other radical groups, like the alt-right and white supremacists.
