Metaphors in meditation.

What is it about?

The article surveys a variety of metaphors used by well-known Tibetan Buddhist authors in a selection of texts where they explain the basics of meditation to the general (mainly non-initiated) audience.

Why is it important?

We provide linguistic evidence of conceptual metaphors that help construe the conceptual representation of meditation drawing on a selection of source domains that evoke vivid images related to everyday experience. The findings may allow for a comparison between traditional Buddhist models and those already identified within the context of Western mindfulness and meditation practices (Silvestre-López, 2016a).
