Chinese primary school pupils using graphic organisers in reading lessons

What is it about?

Graphic organizers are visual thinking tools. Can they help Chinese primary school students enhance their understanding of text structure? This paper examines the application of two graphic organizers (story maps and spider maps) in reading classes and also explores students’ opinions on using them.

Why is it important?

Our research results indicate that students’ awareness of text structure has improved, and students in general have a positive attitude towards using graphic organizers in reading classes.
