What is it about?

This is a book review of Diversifying Family Language Policy by Lyn Wright & Christina Higgins (2021). The book providers readers with a snapshot of the diverse range of families which they see as being underrepresented in the field of Family Language Policy (FLP).

Why is it important?

The book is an essential addition to the field of FLP and calls for the scope and reach of FLP to be expanded to capture the complex ways in which language practices are shaped by family configuration, perceived usefulness of language and geographic context, in particular, indigenous and autochthonous contexts, language practices, language identity, language revitalisation and endangered languages.
