Subtle ways of discriminatory discourse
What is it about?
It proposes a framework to detect sublte ways of discrimination towards migrants in political discourse. If explicit ways of discrimination are easy to detect, more subtle ways require a closer analysis. This framework is very useful to be able to detect not so obvious ways of discrimination that have been almost normalized in political discourse.
Why is it important?
Politicians have a great responsability in the views they promote through their discourse. Since they have access to a wide audience and definitely create opinions of people in society. The way politicians represent immigration through their discourse will have an impact on the way immigration is interpreted by society. The first step to be able to condemn discrimination in political discourse is being aware of those subtle ways of discrimination that are not so obvious.
