This paper explores methods to address complex and multifaceted questions in financial communication dialogues. It explores how to break question turns down into constitutive units to allow for their analysis, and how to fully understand what their contextual, intended message is. It also carefully tackles the replies that such question units receive and approaches a data-driven characterization of those, depending on the scope that the answering unit has over the question unit (or a portion thereof). Throughout the contribution, the analysis is supported by graphical examples that effectively display unit segmentation, question-and-answer connections, and implicit contents. In the end, it is argued that the findings can be applied to the analysis of questions (and related answers) in other domains as well.
