Gender and Language in Africa

What is it about?

An examination of relationships between gender and language use in different African cultures and contexts, including Ghana, South Africa, Cameroon and Chad.

Why is it important?

Gender and language study has largely taken place in developed countries. This work fills an important gaps, as there are some particular issues about gender and language in African contexts, e.g. the language of pre-marriage advice given to young women.
