A spatial model of conceptualization of time

What is it about?

The present paper proposes a spatial model of the conceptualization of time on the basis of English and Armenian fairy tales. The schemas that best accommodate this folkloristic genre are categorized by the following geometric delineations: point, interval, line, cycle, circle, and segment of a circle presented with all their types.

Why is it important?

A comparative analysis of the model of conceptualization of time in both languages shows that similarities prevail over differences. Similarities include the following features: 1) all the schemas are represented in both languages, which comes to prove that they mirror the basic patterns of cognition and psyche common to all humans, irrespective of their culture.
