What is it about?

The clarity of text in checklists, charts or manuals is important in industries with a high risk of injury or fatalities. However, guidelines for the use of typography in these documents were developed over 40 years ago and are now being used in electronic devices for accessing documentation. Why is it important?

Legibility is particularly important during time-sensitive tasks which require the user to read, interpret and act upon written information quickly. Our research found that typography is generally regarded as important. On the other hand, it is not used to its best potential due to influences such as inherited misconceptions.
