Book Review of Sullivan (2013).

What is it about?

The book review critiques Sullivan's book and finds it is well-written, describes research work and issues important to researchers in the field of cognitive linguistics, and reaches conclusions of import to future study in conceptual metaphor theory.

Why is it important?

The book review concludes that 1) a major issue in conceptual metaphor research is the overlap between the construct of the "frame" and a specific conceptual metaphor. The lack of separation between these concepts suggests that they are the same construct, not different ones, which may allow for a more straightforward study methodology and data analysis procedure. 2) providing more linguistic context in the data samples may have in turn provided additional support for Sullivan's conclusions.
