Metaphors of womanhood in English literary works by Indian writers

What is it about?

The study examines conceptual metaphors of womanhood found in the English literary works by Indian authors, in terms of the universality and variation across the Indo-Aryan, the Dravidian, and the Tibeto-Burmese ethno-linguistic groups.

Why is it important?

This study is significant in that it is among the few to study variation in literary metaphors. It contributes towards empirical analysis of novel conceptual metaphors in English literary works in India, using CMT. Moreover, it takes an inductive approach, whereby it has first identified all possible linguistic metaphors in the selected works, and then analyzed them to uncover the underlying conceptual metaphors.
